Little Firsts Journal is written and maintained by the Little Firsts Team. We publish calm, practical ideas for families raising bilingual children, with a clear line between everyday suggestions and claims that need reliable evidence.

What we publish

Our Journal covers shared reading, first words, bilingual routines, play, and ways families can use Little Firsts. Articles are educational resources, not personalised medical, developmental, educational, psychological, or therapeutic advice.

Evidence and sources

Practical activities are presented as ideas, not universal prescriptions. Claims about children’s health, sleep, safety, language development, or developmental milestones should be supported by an appropriate primary study, systematic review, or guidance from a recognised public-health, paediatric, or educational body. We distinguish evidence from the team’s editorial suggestions and avoid diagnosing children or promising outcomes.

How articles are prepared

The Little Firsts Team chooses a focused family question, checks relevant sources, drafts the article in plain language, and edits it for accuracy, age-appropriate expectations, and practical value. We do not claim that an article was reviewed by a clinician, therapist, or educator unless that review actually occurred and is named on the page.

Translations and automation

We may use software-assisted research, drafting, and translation. The team remains responsible for what is published. Translations must preserve the meaning, uncertainty, citations, safety guidance, and disclaimers of the source article. We do not automatically turn every draft into an indexable page.

Updates and corrections

We revise articles after meaningful changes to their content, sources, or recommendations and update translations when the change affects their meaning. The public publication date remains stable; template changes and routine database writes are not presented as editorial updates.
